Dr. Alan Venook is an experienced clinical investigator in the management of gastrointestinal malignancies. He is well known for his clinical research of new modalities to treat both primary and metastatic tumors of the liver and has led multiple cooperative group trials studying the use of chemotherapeutics and biologics in patients with colorectal and liver cancers and in patients with liver dysfunction.

He is a the Madden Family Distinguished Professor of Medicine and Translation Science at the University of California, San Francisco, where he leads the Gastrointestinal Oncology clinical program. He is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Clinical Oncology and is the Chairman of the GI Committee in the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology.
